MIKE RIDER left the Royal Marine Commandos in 2002 having served mainly with 42 Commando he was involved in various operational tours of Northern Ireland through to interventions into Sierra Leone. Mike’s commercial management skills were gained during continuous service within the Middle East operating and managing various high profile projects, including parts of the US Department of State “Future of Iraq” project in post war Iraq.
Mike’s career has been dominated by risk and security management in all its forms at the operational level he is a former Director of a UK Risk Management company who specialise in protecting people, assets and infrastructure, primarily in the area of Internal Security and Counter Terrorism and at the strategic level he has specialised in protecting current and future organisational capability.
Mike holds a Master’s degree in Business Continuity, Security and Emergency Management from Buckinghamshire University, he was awarded the ‘Freedom of the City’ of London in 2014 by recommendation.
ROBERT BOTTEN has been involved in the construction industry for 26 years, he took over as CEO of a trade skill training academy in 2010. Under his Direction Rob bought his vision and business expertise to develop and grow the academy into highly respected and successful training facility which offers the highest level of construction and health and safety training.
The STC academy opened up a bespoke centre in Harold Wood, Essex in 2014 extending the coverage of the training offer to London and the South East, and has to date, delivered well over sixteen thousand trade courses supporting new trade skill and employment opportunities to those looking for a career change. STC are also working with Government referral agencies on a funded training offer for the unemployed along with resettlement training to military personnel who are moving back into civilian trade occupations at the end of their military career.
